The Nelson FloodOn 15 December 2011, Nelson woke up to a ravaged region from persistent heavy rainfall that caused more than 300 people to be evacuated and left others stranded. New pictures have been added to the gallery under current projects, which documents some of the days events and the clean up that followed. AboutMy passion for photography started when I was ten and was largely encouraged by my farther, who clearly knew how to spot a good photograph. Thanks Dad! I started working in the advertising industry as a photography assistant in 2000, where I learned how to properly use a camera with a Mamiya RZ67 and Phase One digital back. I was very lucky indeed and my mentors back then were Stu Booth and Andrew Davis.

Using the photographic medium through film and digital imaging, my work explores the photographic rhetoric through a variety of concept and documentary projects. My concept installations and photographs are largely inspired by the environment and observations of human interaction with nature. I also consider themes such as heritage and cultural identity; memory and time; consumerism; and the everyday, which can often be poetically noted in my work. I like to explore my chosen medium beyond recognised boundaries sourcing inspiration from an eclectic range of artists such as Andy Goldsworthy, Cindy Sherman and Thomas Demand.
