About

My passion for photography started when I was ten and was largely encouraged by my farther, who clearly knew how to spot a good photograph. Thanks Dad! I started working in the advertising industry as a photography assistant in 2000, where I learned how to properly use a camera with a Mamiya RZ67 and Phase One digital back. I was very lucky indeed and my mentors back then were Stu Booth and Andrew Davis.

They taught me the intricacies of studio lighting, for which I will be forever grateful. I later opted for the academic route and went onto gain a 1st Class BA (hons) in Photography and Digital Imaging with New Media Journalism at the University of West London in 2006, where my final work was published in the British Journal of Photography. Following this achievement I gained a scholarship and went onto graduate with a Masters of Arts in Photography during 2008.

I arrived in New Zealand in 2009 as a tourist on a working holiday visa and it quickly became apparent that I would be here for some time. I am lucky to be based in the Nelson region, which could certainly be mistaken for being paradise at times.  I am hugely interested in the environment and the arts, and Nelson lends itself to these areas well, offering a constant source of inspiration and activity. I am currently developing two bodies of work for exhibition and have recently started my own business in New Zealand as a creative photographer. I work locally and travel for photographic assignments. The portfolio section offers an overview to my previous work and range of different styles. This is an exciting time in my photographic career and I am looking forward to developing my practice over the coming years in New Zealand and overseas. I welcome your feedback and any commission enquiries. Thanks for visiting my website and enjoy.
